Morrinsville man becomes youngest leader at SealesWinslow
Morrinsville local Ashley Taylder (25) has become SealesWinslow’s youngest people leader, rising from forklift driver to Production Manager in just five years. Now, he is encouraging other young people to strive for their goals.
Despite his relatively young age, Ashley has proven his worth at SealesWinslow and earned the respect of his colleagues, leading a team of 13 at the animal nutrition company’s Morrinsville plant.
“I think when you get clear on what you want and you have a goal in mind, I don’t think it matters what age you are, you will work hard towards that,” says Ashley. “I hope I can also show others what is possible when they put their minds to it.”
Born and bred in Morrinsville, Ashley had grown up knowing the SealesWinslow brand. After deciding a Law and Commerce degree at university was not for him, he wasn’t sure what direction he wanted to head in.
“I knew University wasn’t for me and I saw a job advertised at SealesWinslow for a millhand. I knew the company and I thought it was something for me to get into while I worked out what came next,” says Ashley.
The move launched his career in the agribusiness industry. Ashley started in Morrinsville in 2018 and SealesWinslow quickly recognised and has supported his potential.
From driving forklifts Ashley advanced to plant operator and eventually day shift team leader. Two years ago, he stepped up to help in the distribution center and eventually took on the role of distribution supervisor. When the role of Production Manager opened, Ashley jumped at the chance.
SealesWinslow has supported Ashley in his professional development. He recently completed a stage one leadership course, which focused on developing leadership skills for individuals looking to advance into management roles. This course helped him enhance his self-awareness and personal management capabilities.
“I have worked in most roles across the company. I’m self-driven and when opportunities present themselves, I’m always ready for the challenge,” says Ashley.
While he likes to work hard and drive continuous improvement. Ashley says he also tries to make the working environment fun and doesn’t see himself as any different from the staff in his team.
“We are all working together towards a common goal. I love a challenge, but I also like to just get on and do the work,” says Ashley.
Ashley’s intends to continue his progress at SealesWinslow with his sights set on becoming National Operations Manager.
“I have seen the potential for my career at SealesWinslow and I want to keep advancing,” he says.
